Croeso!  |  Welcome!

Alun Allcock, Beekeeper and Owner of The Snowdonia Honey Co.

I'm Alun, the proud owner of The Snowdonia Honey Co., a venture that first took root in my imagination back in 2018 when we moved onto our small farm (or "Tyddyn") nestled in the beautiful landscape of Snowdonia. The farm has quite a bit of history once being owned as part of a farm estate that included half the Falkland Islands! And there's been farming on our land since prehistoric times.

Tyddyn Whisgin Bach, Home of The Snowdonia Honey Co.

Snowdonia's rich mix of flora and fauna coupled with our bees' inbred resilience to working in wild conditions, gives rise to a honey that's multi-floral with many taste layers and distinct flavour characteristics. This sought-after flavour, intoxicating aroma and vibrant colours have been delighting the taste buds of discerning British foodies over the past few years.

Starting small, with just a couple of hives, I've gradually expanded to create The Snowdonia Honey Co. that you see today. We've dotted the local Snowdonian countryside with over 120 hives – home to over 7 million busy bees at the peak of Summer! Welsh Wildflower Honey and Welsh Heather Honey are world-renowned and because of our location, ours are untainted by the mono-cultures of oil seed rape, beans and other commercial crops.

We follow a meticulous process of cold-extraction and careful filtration, harvesting honey once a year in August only when the bees have produced an excess. This means our honey remains pure, raw, untouched by any additives and, very importantly, unpasteurised - as close to natural as it can be! I can still vividly recall that moment when I tasted the very first batch of honey from those original two hives. It was like discovering gold!

But there's more to our story than just honey.....

Our commitment goes beyond just the bees. We believe in giving back and "paying forward". I'm passionate about sharing the vital role that bees and beekeeping play in our environment. That's why you might meet me mentoring and guiding new beekeepers on their beekeeping journey with The National Beekeeping Centre for Wales where I am one of the Directors. We're also active  members of The Bee Farmers Association and follow their code of conduct at all times.

If you have any further questions about our honey and how we produce it, we've created a Frequently Asked Questions page.

So, thank you for supporting us on our journey. We hope you will find something on our website that intrigues, fascinates and delights you. Each jar of our honey carries a piece of this land's soul and is testament to the remarkable work of our Welsh Bees and the detail we pour into every step of the process.

Diolch o galon,
